I've played around with the device for a while but haven't experienced what you describe.
does your problem self-heal ? and does it self-heal only with a reboot ?
also, do you happen to have any crash files in /var/crash/ ?

  BQ E4.5 (r25): hardware buttons not working

Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Sometimes my BQ is in the situation where:

  1. the audio up/down buttons have no visible effect and no influence on the audio level
  2. pressing both does not do a screen shot
  3. the power button does suspend and wakeup on short press, but does not bring up the menu for reboot/shutdown/cancel on long press

  I think(?), I saw this with r24 too, but I'm not sure.
