Title:
  Unable to boot after installing 10.11 beta - vgchange needs to be run
  manually in initramfs shell

Status in initramfs-tools package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  I have a laptop Dell Precision M4300 with one hd which is entirely
  assigned as a physical volume for a volume group vg01. "Root"
  filesystem is inside the volume group - this was not a problem with
  Natty (at least I can't remember any issues). Anyway, I had a well
  functioning and updated Natty environment (32-bit) installed as I
  started the upgrade with "update-manager -d" using alternative image
  as advised.

  The upgrade process completed without problems, but after that the
  laptop did not boot. Desktop entered into the grub2's graphic mode (I
  think) but thats all, nothing happened at least in one hour. I could
  not access virtual terminals either (ctrl+alt+f1-f6).

  I booted using the rescue mode and ensured that new versions of grub*-packages are completely installed, and they were. Then I modified /etc/default/grub by commenting out line:
  GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0
  and uncommenting line:
  GRUB_TERMINAL=console
  After this it came out that boot process stops in initramfs prompt and after some studying that the boot process can't find "ROOT" which is a "/dev/mapper/vg01-root". I managed get it to boot by manually entering "/sbin/vgchange -ay" in initramfs prompt, but I have no idea about the root cause...

  So far I have tried all tips I have found (reinstalled grub*-packages,
  copied grub-files from installation media etc) and finally I
  reinstalled Oneiric by using option to format "root", "usr" and "var"
  filesystems (kept my personal data intact though) -> still the same
  problem.

  Information:

  lsb_release -rd:

  What you expected to happen:
  I expected my laptop to boot

  What happened instead:
  Latop did not boot successfully, after changing /etc/default/grub values the boot process stopped and initramfs shell was started for manual intervention
