This is not true of iOS. If I set auto lock to 'never' and then press
the power button then the phone does lock.
I agree with Iain "I personally like the phone locking straight away
when I press the power button." There should be a quick and easy way to
lock your screen, should you not wish to wait 10 minutes (or whatever
has been set) and the power button is a good way to do this.

Bug description:
In Security and Settings I set the Lock Phone time to 10 minutes. The
phone will correctly lock after 10 minutes. But if I press the power
button before 10 minutes it should not lock the screen. This is how
iphone works. Pressing the power button should not automatically lock
the phone unless the timeout set in system settings has been
triggered, or if it's set to immediately
