[Bug 1211922] Re: apt-get cdrom method segfaults when autodetecting non-cdrom

What method would you suggest for getting a stack trace from the
installer environment? There does not appear to be a gdb udeb:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/source/trusty/gdb.

Title:
  apt-get cdrom method segfaults when autodetecting non-cdrom

Status in apt package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
  apt version 0.8.16~exp12ubuntu10.10

  If the following are set by a package installed during pkgsel step
  (preseeded using alternate installer):

  Acquire::cdrom::AutoDetect "true";
  APT::cdrom::CdromOnly "false";

  apt-get install fails to install grub-efi with:
  E: Method cdrom has died unexpectedly!
  E: Sub-process cdrom received a segmentation fault.

  I would expect installation would continue successfully (since the
  medium I'm installing off of should be autodetected, if it gets
  there), or at least not segfault.
