Title:
[Realtek ALC662 rev1] Microphone no long works after switching to
another user and then back
Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: pulseaudio
After another user logs in (and uses the computer until they are done) and then I go back to my user, my microphone doesn't work. If I restart the computer, the microphone works again until someone else logs in and uses the computer and then I switch back to my user. I can also make the microphone start working again by running sudo killall pulseaudio, which does the same thing as a restart. None of the users are part of the audio group, which is the correct configuration according to the wiki.
(Normally, I would expect the microphone to consistently work for whatever user is currently logged in.)
To reproduce:
Login to user A.
Go to System > Preferences > Sound and then the input tab.
Make some noise and notice that the Input level meter registers it.
Login to user B.
Switch back to user A.
Make noise. Notice that the Input level meter does not register it.
Run sudo killall pulseaudio and wait a few seconds.
Make noise and notice that the Input level meter registers it.
