Try this:

1. Put  an app into landscape. 
2. Tap power button to suspend the display.
3. Pick up phone holding it in portrait/vertically.
4. Tap power button again to show display.

Bug description:
  " many times when I wake it from suspend it often shows a distorted
  rendering then snaps into the proper resolution." per Pat

  regarding Arale, suspicion is this began around the time grid units
  were adjusted.
