There is little we can do in this case.

Check their last visited date.

Perhaps make a note in the Import Threads wiki page.

There are some tutes that were written a while ago - in which case 
obviously check whether the tute is still valid - by people that haven't 
done what they were supposed to do - that is

In that case I would say that trying to send a PM is as good as sending one.
