Title:
  [UIFe] [FFe] Removal of sabayon, pessulus and nanny from the Edubuntu
  11.10 seed

Status in “edubuntu-meta” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in “ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  After waiting for a while, hoping for upstream activity on sabayon,
  gnome-nanny and pessulus, it's now time to get them out of Edubuntu
  11.10.

  Reason for the removal from the seed:
   * sabayon
     - unable to edit a profile (crashes)
     - only works with an old icon theme
   * gnome-nanny
     - systray icon isn't whitelisted in unity
     - admin console just won't start
   * pessulus
     - Doesn't work with unity
     - Configure epiphany that we don't ship
     - Remaining settings don't seem to apply either

  It doesn't seem doable to fix these by release as these are pretty critical bugs that very well may hide a lot more bugs. The switch from gnome 2.x to 3.x, from gtk2 to gtk3 and from gconf to dconf affected each of these three apps and upstream (gnome for all three of them) didn't seem able to fix them in time for 11.10.

  In addition from updating the seeds and corresponding meta packages, I'll also be removing the matching installer slides.
  We made sure these are separate slides that we can easily turn off rather than have to modify any existing strings, this way, no effort will be needed from the translation community.

  For documentation, these are Edubuntu specific changes and we haven't
  done any screenshot of 11.10 yet. Our screenshots are only on our
  websites and released on the day of release.

  Consider this as an ack from both Edubuntu product manager and
  Edubuntu documentation team.
