Installation problem with latest 389-admin

Just updated my clean-install 389 test server and had problems with
389-admin and those packages that depend on it:
    Setting up 389-ds-base (1.2.10.2-0ubuntu2) ...
     * Starting 389 DS instances :
...
* dirsrv
...

    Setting up 389-admin (1.1.27-0ubuntu2) ...
    Starting dirsrv-admin:
     * /var/run/dirsrv is not writable for dirsrv
    invoke-rc.d: initscript dirsrv-admin, action "start" failed.
    dpkg: error processing 389-admin (--configure):

status 1

    dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of 389-admin-console:
     389-admin-console depends on 389-admin; however:
      Package 389-admin is not configured yet.
    dpkg: error processing 389-admin-console (--configure):
     dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

    dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of 389-dsgw:
     389-dsgw depends on 389-admin; however:
      Package 389-admin is not configured yet.
    dpkg: error processing 389-dsgw (--configure):
     dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

    Errors were encountered while processing:
     389-admin
     389-admin-console
     389-dsgw
    E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

A quick look shows that /var/run/dirsrv is owned by root:
    # ls -la /var/run/dirsrv/
    total 0
    drwx------  2 root root  40 Mar  4 18:33 .
    drwxr-xr-x 13 root root 480 Mar  4 18:32 ..

chown -R dirsrv:dirsrv /var/run/dirsrv apparently fixes the problem as
the apt-get upgrade run finished without dpkg complaints.
