Next Steps

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to update everyone on the next steps with the project
and where we are heading.

Currently the core of the system is working. We have a range of
accomplishments which are regularly checked and trophies are verified
and validated. I believe the system currently works enough to focus on
getting out a very early release in a PPA.

To make this happen though the back-end piece (the daemon) needs to
run correctly as a system service so we can package it properly. With
this in mind Duncan and I are currently discussing what is involved to
port the back-end to a twistd Twisted Daemon. You can track this work
on the blueprint that is developing at
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu-accomplishments-system/+spec/daemon-code-improvements

In the meantime, while we are having these discussions, the goal is to
get plenty of testing of the system and fix the bugs that are at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-accomplishments-system - if anyone
is interested in helping, feel free to pick something and work on it.

I know many of you are here to test the system and provide bug
reports, and this is really valuable work, but lots of change going on
with this bugfixing, please be sure to regularly update your branches
to ensure you are running the latest code. You can do this with:

  cd ubuntu-accomplishments-system
  bzr pull

  cd ubuntu-community-accomplishments
  bzr pull

We are also going to be looking for help with documentation,
translations and other things so if you are interested in helping,
just say the word and we can find something for you to do. :-)
