Title:
No way to know if any item is selected in the ListView or thread view

Bug description:
In the messaging app if you have some already existing conversations
and you pull out the toolbar and tap select item and then click on any
of the message conversation there is no way to if that item is
selected or not, if you hit the delete button it will actually be
  deleted.

  1. open the messaging app and make sure you have atleast one message thread visible
  2. pull out the toolbar and tap 'select'
  3. tap on a message thread

  What happens:
The message thread gets selected but there is no visual difference for us to know if it really is selected. The user only knows that when the delete button is tapped.

  What should happen:
When a thread is selected there should atleast be a 'tick' icon there to show that the item is really selected.
