This is working for me in the latest image

I know several input fields were updated to set the hint to disable word
suggestions so search can work properly.

  Fast search is not working properly

Status in “messaging-app” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Start typing a name into the To field. No results are shown.

  Select the message field
  Select the To field again, now the search occurs and the options are shown.
  The search changes as you delete chars but not as you add chars.
