Message #10082
[Bug 1626085] [NEW] Requires double backspaces to delete other skin-tone emojis
Public bug reported:
Steps:
1. Enter one emoji which is not of the primary skin tone (yellow) in any text field, for example 👍🏿 (Thumbs Up Sign, Type-6, i.e. black skin tone).
2. Tap on the backspace key.
Expected:
The entered emoji gets deleted.
What happens:
The emoji turns into a primary colour (yellow) one (👍). Tap on the backspace key once more, then it gets deleted.
This is actually not totally surprising as when one chooses a non-
primary skin tone, two characters are entered (the base emoji + the skin
modifier). But from a user's perspective it feels kinda strange.
Telegram desktop client (and probably other phone OS's too) deletes the
emoji after a single backspace.
Device: E5, stable, OTA-13
** Affects: ubuntu-keyboard (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
** Summary changed:
- Requires to tap backspace twice to delete other skin-tone emoji
