[Bug 1843416] [NEW] Missing /proc/acpi/toshiba/lcd file
You have been subscribed to a public bug by Łukasz Konieczny (panlukasz):
My system:
Operating System: Kubuntu 19.04
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.56.0
Qt Version: 5.12.2
Kernel Version: 5.0.0-27-generic
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-5200U CPU @ 2.20GHz
Memory: 15,6 GiB
Version of fnfxd: 0.3-16ubuntu1
Steps to reproduce:
1) Install fnfxd.
2) There will be error during installation, but all files will be installed. The error is due to fnfxd.service that can't be loaded. Despite that, function keys in Toshiba laptop now work!
3) Run systemctl status fnfxd.service
The output is:
● fnfxd.service
Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/fnfxd; generated)
Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Tue 2019-09-10 12:21:44 CEST; 12min ago
Docs: man:systemd-sysv-generator(8)
Process: 819 ExecStart=/etc/init.d/fnfxd start (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)
wrz 10 12:21:37 BlackMachine systemd[1]: Starting fnfxd.service...

wrz 10 12:21:44 BlackMachine fnfxd[819]: Please make sure that your kernel has enabled the Toshiba option in the ACPI section.
wrz 10 12:21:44 BlackMachine fnfxd[819]: For more information read the documentation and/or http://fnfx.sf.net/index.php?section=doc#kernel.

wrz 10 12:21:44 BlackMachine systemd[1]: fnfxd.service: Control process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
wrz 10 12:21:44 BlackMachine systemd[1]: fnfxd.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'.
wrz 10 12:21:44 BlackMachine systemd[1]: Failed to start fnfxd.service.
4) Check if /proc/acpi/toshiba/lcd exists. No, it doesn't exist.
What I expect:
I expect that either this file appears in the system or fnfxd doesn't need it. Moreover, I expect that I will have no errors during further package installations or system updates.
** Affects: fnfx (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
