So going on this, I say yes we should drop it. I plan on doing some further changes to pulseaudio for other stuff this week, so I'll take care of it then if someone else doesn't beat me to it.
The module has now been disabled as of the latest upload. It is still shipped with the package, should someone be brave enough to use it.
