It might be an idea, however two things spring to mind. If a person
creates an event  and makes a mistake after it's published the event has
been mailed out.

Secondly I'd rather have the email sent to the person who created it,
and they can then forward it on to the list or whoever.

Bug description:
It would be good to send email updates for the following:

1) When a team event is created, an email can be sent to the team's mailing list

2) When a team event is updates, an email can be sent to either a team's mailing list, or just individuals who have registered for the event.
