Message #00957
[Bug 571645] Re: Venue list in event form should only show venues for areas near that loco
Maybe let people choose the area (which is the LoCoTeam's area by
default) and dynamically update the venue list based on that? So
somebody from the Florida LoCo could select "Georgia" instead of the
default "Florida" and some JavaScript would automatically update the
venue list?
To give you some datapoint: if I would enter all events that have
happened or are already planned around Ubuntu in Belgium in 2010 until
today, that would be 20 venues at least, and if I look at the last 12
month, I suppose it would be around 30. Considering that Belgium is
only one small country of the 50 countries in Europe, maybe that could
result in a list of 30 * 50 = 1500 venues? That's *way* more than I
want to scroll through... ;) Of course not all countries have locoteams
yet, and not all of them might have used as many venues, but still, it's
not going to scale over time (other venues might be used every time,
etc.).
PS: I wanted to attend this session but I had (well, wanted) to be at a family event on Thursday...

Status in LoCo Directory: Confirmed
Bug description:
Currently the venue list in the event entry form shows every venue in the database but most of those are completely useless. I think the venue list should only show venues that are entered by the locoteam, as even then the list will grow long soon enough.
