[Bug 584581] Re: legal notice patent ought to provide link
I believe that Ubuntu/Canonical has a policy prohibiting documentation
for directing people to certain legal counsel or information. We simply
can't be responsible for providing this kind of information.
https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/add-applications/C/restricted-software.html
See this page for an example of how the Ubuntu Docs Team has managed the codec issue.

legal notice patent ought to provide link

You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu

Status in Ubuntu Manual: Invalid
Bug description:
The legal notice on page 88 concerning asks the user: "Please obtain legal advice if you are unsure" whether a codec is allowed in their country.
Where should they seek legal advice, their lawyer? Is there not a webpage where this is addressed? A link to a list of codecs and countries could be linked to in the margin.
(I can't find such a webpage...)
