The Google Map API is a red herring. I'm quite sure this is a duplicate
of bug 612997.

If the values in the bug look familiar,
http://loco.ubuntu.com/venues/123/detail/ might be the venue you're
trying to add?

On http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/team/ubuntu-chicago/add/, I hit the green plus icon to create a new venue for the event; this brought me to http://loco.ubuntu.com/venues/add/?_popup=1. Upon completing this form and submitting it, I see:

This web site needs a different Google Maps API key. A new key can be generated at http://code.google.com/apis/maps/
