Title:
Google Map preview shows wrong location
Status in LoCo Team Portal:
Fix Released
Bug description:
The small map on an Event page does not show the correct location of
the venue. The map for the Venue page does show the correct location.
Examples:
http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/ubuntu-ca/2325-kw-raring-ringtail-release-party/ Venue is Kitchener, Ontario, Canada; map shows Manhattan, New York, USA
http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/ubuntu-ca/2393-guelph-raring-ringtail-
release-party/ Venue is Guelph, Ontario, Canada, map shows Hong Kong
http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/ubuntu-ca/2353-toronto-raring-ringtail-
release-party/ Venu is Toronto, Ontario, Canada, map shows Belleville
(maybe Ontario?)
I don't know if it's related, but the addresses for venues do not appear in a conventional format, eg. "Street, Locality (Town/City), Region (Province/State), Country" Instead, it appears in the order of "Locality, Street, Region" on the Event page, and in the order of "Street, Region, Locality" on the Venue page. This may make it difficult for Google Maps to parse the address correctly. If this is not related, I'd like to file a separate bug to fix the order to "Street, Locality, Region, Country"
Also, what's the possibility of using OpenStreetMap instead of Google
Maps?
Thanx,
--Bob.
