I think that OSM project is ready, it's only about making the dev job. In
many places, OSM gives more information than Google Maps.
Implementing OSM is very simple, and costs nothing. For example, in Paris,
the City's maps are made with OSM, because it's costs nothing, and there's
much more information.
In France, for example, in some places, we (OSM-fr) are mapping all the
smallest paths.
