Thanks for the comments, I have tried many times to connect after each
update without any success. This is not due to the update manager
running in background, but deeper problem than this.

I will try Eduardo's and Alex's "solutions".

I am aware that the valgrind log will help, but had trouble setting this
up, will try again tonight.
