Notification worked, OSD pop up of incoming message was shown and
indicator turned blue to indicate new message. When Message Notifier was
opened and Google Mail Inbox was clicked, error occurred stating gm-
notify crashed, althoug I did get another notification as I was
reporting error, so it seems to only not want to open gmail in my
browser.
