I have nominated the bug for Precise, however a member of the Ubuntu Drivers group needs to approve the nomination.

In the mean time,  I suggest you look at the https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates page and update the bug description with the rationale for the SRU and such.

As well, it may be a valid question that others would have, but would you expect the package version to be bumped with a wholly updated version, or do you have specific changes to fix that bug?
