Уже около 5 лет висит баг с непереведенными ярлыками Firefox и
Thunderbird в GNOME https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-

Сейчас в меню это выглядит так: Firefox Web Browser / Browse the World
Wide Web

Как я понял из цитируемого мной письма достаточно изменить файлы в
bazaar, чтобы изменения попали в debian. Кто-нибудь имеет доступ в
bazaar и может добавить русский перевод в файлы? Там надо добавить всего
одну строку в каждый файл.

Здесь необходимо добавить русский перевод в файлы firefox-final.desktop и abrowser.desktop

Currently these are not translatable in the usual dynamic, po-files way.
You have to send a patch against the firefox-final.desktop and the
abrowser.desktop files here:

There is however a bug to change this:
