sdd confirmed that the question is solved:
Got it working now.

Setup a 1.5 gig swap and a 6.5 gig / and went through the process again.

It is very usable running from the SDHC card (Sandisk Extreme III) but I
have to reboot all the time.

Have problems recovering from Hibernate and Suspend but the install prob
is solved.
