martinx76 proposed the following answer:
Under ubuntu (hardy 8.04 pc) I had to manually install ndiswrapper. Then it was possible to login unto my accesspoint. I think this will be necessary under the EEE version to. 
If you google on ndiswrapper ubuntu 8.04 you will get the right information, some times you will need to install a few depencies before it works.

Please post a message if it works (I will probably get a asus EEE 900 pc
in a few weeks.... ;) )
