SimonB is still having a problem:
stlubuntu, sorry I tried that and still now wired or wireless !!!!

Surfed: I installed Ubuntueee using WUBI from a USB stick onto my HD,
Strange that I cant use the wired version because I've used Mepis Linux
before and the wired worked fine (on an IBM Thinkpad). I would love to
help testing this but, I really need all the hardware to work, can't be
swapping forever between WIndoze and Ubuntu :(

I'm at a loss as to how I can take this forward I guess I'll just have
to stick with Windows
