Same problem, running 8.4 on an eee 901.  "not all upgrades can be
installed".

"Partial upgrade" exits seemingly without doing anything, and "close" has the eeepc-config 
upgrade grayed out.

I have no idea what any of this means, but this behavior doesn't seems
to be intentional,
