won't be fixed in 8.04. 8.10 devel doesn't have this bug.
Use sudo -i if you need a root-shell

Bug description:
I did a "sudo passwd root" and thought that i can use a root-account as with the vanilla-ubuntu. I _can_ login using a different tty but can't after logging in graphically, open xterm and do "su -". I always get "Authentication failure".
