This is due to a problem with the "gsynaptics-elantech" that doesn't
contain one setting that is needed for the mouse-movement to be
registered.
uninstall gsynaptics-elantech and install regular gsynaptics, there should be a slider there that lets you change the movement.
then, reinstall gsynaptics-elantech and DO NOT mess with the sliders for movement and it should work.
This is due to a bug in the ASUS-version of synaptics/gsynaptics that
we're not abe to rectify due to not having access to the code-changes.
