[Question #52106]: How do I restore Xandros and completely remove Ubuntu?

New question #52106 on Ubuntu Eee:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu-eee/+question/52106

I installed Ubuntu Eee from a flash drive to an SD card on my Eee 900.

I realize now that I should have transferred the Ubuntu Image from the flash drive to the SD Card and then installed from that drive, because now the system won't boot unless the flash drive is installed. Here are my questions:

-Why can't I simply boot Xandros from the Eee's hard drive? (I get the GRUB loading Error 21 if the flash drive isn't connected).
-How do I start over? I want to simply remove Ubuntu and restore the system to its original properties, then start over with an Ubuntu Eee image on an SD card.

I've restored the system defaults for Xandros (and I can boot Xandros just fine, as long as the stupid flash drive is connected), but I can't boot the system in its original format because of Grub. How the heck do I get around this?
