[Question #53143]: Wireless does not turn on; ASUS 1000hd ubuntu

I installed eee ubuntu from a USB stick. I've done this before on my 901 and it works fine. But I installed Ubuntu (8.04.1) from the same stick onto my new Asus 1000hd, and the wireless does not turn on (both after installation and when I try to run Ubuntu from the USB flash drive in Live mode). I tried using Fn + F2, but that only makes the wireless turn on for a second, and then the computer freezes. Any suggestions?
