Sorry, just realised this is almost certainly a duplicate of a core
ubuntu issue currently marked high priority, i.e. #227994

Bug description:
I want my screen to lock after suspending. I tried to achieve this by setting the screensaver to lock then going into gconf-editor then Apps>gnome-power-manager>lock then checked use_screensaver_settings. I also experimented with various other settings, after unchecking the use_screensaver one, but all led to the same outcome.
After suspend I did get the proper dialogue box (with options to leave a message, switch user etc), and it recognised who I was (i.e. welcome kev). However, no matter how many times I entered the password it would not recognise it. Pressing switch user took me to the normal gdm login screen where I could log in using the same password I'd been trying before. I only have one non-root user on the system.
The system is an eeePC901-BK006 running ubuntu-eee 8.04.1 with all available updates installed.
