I completely sympathize, because there's something about this process
that seems much more difficult than it should be. I have been
experimenting today because as someone commented in that bug, I "should"
have made the settings using the HAL configuration instead of xorg.

I have everything working now using a HAL, but my next step will be to
reinstall the system from scratch and re-check my steps to be sure I
haven't forgotten something. I will try it in Easy-Peasy this time so I
can say for sure whether the process is different. I will report back
here.
