Re: [Question #60067]: installing easy peasy on HP 2133 Mini-note
Question #60067 on Easy Peasy changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu-eee/+question/60067
Status: Open => Solved
Jonathon Hodges confirmed that the question is solved:
Ok folks,
We figured it out, with the help of the post here from mgillespie:
http://www.hp2133guide.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=10852&sid=53c9743303ea1b51d7d596f58d38eef1#10852
Ok. That gets you through the installer but then it'll freeze when you reboot. To fix, move on to the next step:
http://www.hp2133guide.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=10855&sid=53c9743303ea1b51d7d596f58d38eef1#10855
That second step involves editing the GRUB bootloader configuration, to
get into that, you press escape shortly after your bios screen when the
grub screen briefly appears. You get a text screen and there you should
choose the first entry in the list and press 'e' to edit the
configuration. Ths screen looks a bit like this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:GRUB_screenshot.png
Next choose which line you want to edit and follow the instructions in
the post above. To save your edits, press enter and it takes you back to
the previous screen. Edit the next line and press enter again.
Press b to boot with your new temporary configuration.
Now Easy Peasy should load to the desktop where unfortunately Ubiquity starts to install Easy Peasy again! Cancel that and follow this post to fix that problem:

Ok. Next you need to permanently edit the grub config:
In the main Easy Peasy menu, go to Accessories -> Terminal
In the terminal type the following:
sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
{this means as superuser, run gedit which is a text editor and edit the
file /boot/grub/menu.lst)
At the bottom of the file are the entries you were editing in the grub
loader. Make the changes as you were before, and then save and close
gedit. This makes the changes permanent.
Close the terminal. Now get yourself plugged into the internet, you
have to use a wired connection for now. Once you're online, back to the
main menu, Administration -> Update Manager. Get all the updates you
can and restart if need be. After that, you should get a notification
saying that there are drivers available for devices on your computer.
This is the closed source driver for your wireless network card.
Activate that, and Easy Peasy will download the driver for you. After
that, you should have wifi and you can set it up. I won't explain how,
that'd be too easy for you!
Good luck, post if you have any questions.
Jon
