[Bug 264072] Re: Intrepid - shutdown incomplete on EeePC 701

HI Ian,

This isn't a consolekit problem, I think it's a kernel problem,
as consolekit is long dead by the time that this comes around.

This is believed to be caused by the snd_intel_hda driver, as suggested
at http://www.ubuntu-eee.com/index.php5?title=Fix:_The_shutdown_on_hardy
and https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EeePC/Fixes.

This bug has already been reported as bug 126140, so I am going to mark
this one a duplicate, you will be able to follow the progress of the other report.

Thanks,

James

Status in “linux” source package in Ubuntu: New

Bug description:
Binary package hint: consolekit

Hardware - EeePC 701.
OS summary - A fresh install of Intrepid's August 31st daily build (last dist-upgraded 30 mins before posting this)

I first thought I had this bug, but I am advised by others that this is a different issue.

Symptoms:-

Clicking the log off button in the upper panel opens the "log out / switch user / cancel" window.
Clicking log out takes me to the GDM login screen.
Selecting "Shut down" from GDM's menu closes Ubuntu, but leaves my Eee powered up.

Using "sudo shutdown -h now" in a terminal has exactly the same effect.
