Bug description:
(maybe related to #254965 but it seems a bit different)
about 50% of the boots off the live CD I get a red screen after selecting the language and select to run off the CD; I think the screen is text mode but can't be sure (it's 100% red); there are variations - I think I've seen what looks like blocked text appearing in grey (but just grey rectangles rather than actual text). On this last boot hitting ctrl-f1 landed me on a black/grey striped screen - eventually X started (which works OK with a metacity --replace - my machine doesn't seem to like 3d - see #15219).
I've attached a messages and lspci; this machine never had boot up problems with hardy or earlier.
