I understand Xfire is a network chat protocol. Do you have troubles
where Xfire servers make a change and suddenly everyone is out of
date?
Also, it seems that Gfire is gearing up for a 1.0 release; one thing
that could help is if the developer team consults the Karmic Release
Schedule [ https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KarmicReleaseSchedule ]. Feature
freeze is on August 18th, but universe's schedule is less restricted.
Still, if gfire expects to have 1.0 released by 9.10, having a beta
release by Feature Freeze would help get the 1.0 final into Ubuntu
proper with fewer hiccups and stress.
