Re: Lets start rocking - idea of spawning ubuntu gaming distro?

Personally I think it would be best to have 2 teams. One dedicated to the
gaming as a whole and another with the above objectives. My belief was that
this was to promote and improve gaming on Ubuntu in all senses not just the
development of FOSS games. I like the idea of both but for the short term I
believe that if Ubuntu is going to attract a cloud of hardcore gamers we
need to support the commercial games that are out there to be able to
attract them in the first place. Only then will they see Ubuntu and Linux as
a whole as a viable gaming platform as Windows already has all of the
Commercial games and the FOSS games and for them to have a reason to move
their has to be a benefit besides the operating system being free as many do
not care.

The benefits could be improved stability (this we have generally), Higher
frames per second, Shorter loading times (ext4 is already helping here plus
the way Linux uses memory is better than windows last time I checked)) and
so on.
