Re: Fwd: [FSF] Breakthrough for Free Software Gaming
NeL currently runs on Linux, OSX and Windows. We've supposed OpenGL and
OpenAL from the beginning and have since added D3D, FMOD, and XAudio2. NeL
was originally written to be cross platform and this does not need changing.
The services all run on Linux today without any crazy workarounds and the
client builds in Linux although suffers from a crash we have not yet
resolved. We're very close to everything except the tools running on three
platforms. Most of the tools are command line and some of them have been
converted to Qt. What does need work, admittedly, are the tools that are
stuck tied to either 3DStudio MAX or MFC.
The state of Ryzom isn't as dire as you would like to think.
Peter Brown also did not waste any money on Ryzom - we worked with him to
help get the word out.
