[Ubuntugnome-qa] Testing
Hello All,
I just finished installing the October 7 daily build of Ubuntu GNOME
13.10 on my desktop and laptop computers. In both cases I the
installation was almost flawless.
I have also been running 13.10 on my production machine since September
28. During that time I have not experienced any critical bugs. I have
only experienced some minor bugs and I will report them after the
release of RC1.
My experience with the daily build is as follows.
Case I. Laptop
For this test I decided to install Ubuntu GNOME directly from the live
CD. The laptop is not hard wired to the Internet, however it does have a
Wi Fi port. The installer recognized that the computer was Wi FI enabled
and gave me the option of connecting to my router. Upon entering the WEP
key the computer successfully connected to the router.
I chose the following installation type to test. First I erased the hard
drive, then I selected encrypt the new Ubuntu installation and use LVM.
I chose not to overwrite empty disk space and I encrypted my home
folder.
The installation proceeded flawlessly up until I was asked to reboot the
computer. After hitting reboot the computer ejected the live CD but
would not reboot. I had to initiate a control-alt-delete to reboot the
computer. I know this is a known bug but it is still there. In addition,
this bug only occurs when you go directly to install Ubuntu GNOME.
I experienced no problems after this.
Case II. Desktop
No problems to report.
Further Testing.
Unless there is something specific that needs to be tested I will not be
doing any testing until after the release of RC1.
Cheers,
Joe
