The ppa is for Trusty, because I suspect the few people that have optimus hardware are probably using trusty right now!

Indeed. That was a good call :)

14.04 is an LTS release so we should pay more attention to it while keeping Utopic in mind as well.

If testing comes through ok, It will be uploaded to Utopic, then backported to trusty!
