[Ubuntugnome-qa] Ubuntu-Gnome 14.10 Window Stacking issue
I am a little discourage with ubuntu-gnome 14.04.1 and 14.10.
My system includes a Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 and a 24” monitor.
Issue 1 is that an install of either 14.04.1 or 14.10 result in low
resolution. I need to install the Nvidia 340 drivers to get full 1920
resolution and the monitor detected (same issue with Ubuntu).
Issue 2 has to do with the window manager and window stacking. With a
stock 3.10 or 3.12 gnome, either on 14.04 or 14.10, launching an
application will result in the window opening behind the current open
window. I have not reproduced this on a 32 bit system only 64 bit.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Alt F2, launch Firefox. Increase it to about 3/4s of the screen and
move it near the top left corner.
2. Alt F2, launch Nautilus. Increase it to about ½ of the screen and
drag to near the top right corner.
3. Close both windows and relaunch via Alt F2 both Firefox and again
drag it to near the top left corner. Launch Nautilus and it opens
behind the FF window.
I know that #2 is an upstream problem. However, I believe the gnome
developers are deaf to this issue.
