[Ubuntugnome-qa] Questions regarding 14.04.2
Hello Tim, Ali, and list ;^)
I'm just checking on the status of 14.04.2 - the second point release
for Trusty.
The tentative release date is (or was) February 5th but I wonder if
Canonical is still on track with that date. Based on prior experience
iso-testing LTS point releases it's not at all uncommon for Canonical to
delay such releases until they're actually ready.
One of the reasons I'm wondering if Canonical is still on track with
that date is that the original plan was for Ubuntu to ship the Utopic
kernel and Xstack with 14.04.2 but the Ubuntu daily manifest still shows
the 3.13 series kernel:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/trusty/daily-live/current/trusty-desktop-i386.manifest
Notice that manifest is for the Ubuntu images rather than Ubuntu GNOME
because I didn't know if we were opting into LTS HWE or not. Those who
are new to the whole HWE concept can learn what I'm talking about here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack
I wonder if another QA member would give a shout out to the release team
on IRC chat:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReleaseTeam
I'm unable to use IRC chat due to disability, but we should find out
what Canonical is planning. If they're still planning on February 5th
we'll need to put our testing shoes on no later than next Monday. Of
course sooner is sometimes better than later.
