I'm the wrong person to talk to about Ubuntu firewall policies ..... because I'm real dummy when it comes to such issues :^(

But quite a while back, maybe around Lucid, I needed to edit 'iptables' to allow access from a specific source - information I can't share publicly - so I actually payed someone to show me how to do it.

With 'gufw' it's a simple copy-n-paste but I do also know how to do it using 'ufw' from the command line. It's just not as simple.

Almost off-topic but when Debian Squeeze was released I tried installing 'ufw' but, if memory serves correctly, it was un-installable due to a some conflict with Debian's 'iptables' rules.

Anyway I just like using Gufw in the *buntu family because it's simple enough for a dummy like me to use :^)

Good call on this one, I was also investigating the possibility that something was wrong with it. Would be nice to have an entry. Is this the default Firewall config in Ubuntu now?

Is that a bug? And, if so, what package should it be filed against?

Launching it using "gksu gufw" works and I doubt it's an often used app so it's not a bug deal.
