Message #00431
trustedqsl for Debian and Ubuntu
I'm about to upload updated TrustedQSL packages 'tqsllib (2.2)' and
'trustedqsl (1.13)' to Debian unstable[1]. Here's a summary/recap of
the recent work that led up to these updates...
Some months ago, Jerry Stueve K4INT packaged those new upstream versions
of tqsllib and trustedqsl and uploaded them to mentors.debian.net[2] but
they never did get reviewed or uploaded to Debian unstable.
Last week, Jonathan Marsden N6JU independently packaged the same
versions for his Ubuntu PPA[3]. Jonathan determined that the sources
fail to build in Ubuntu Natty because the custom library checks in their
configure scripts don't properly handle the new multi-arch library
paths[4]. (Jonathan hacked the configure script to force it to build).
Yesterday, I reviewed Jerry's packages, patched them with my own fixes
for Jonathan's multi-arch library handling problem and other library
dependency issues, plus fixed and some additional glitches (see my
changelogs and individual debian/patches/ patches for details[5]).
Since we've already got a couple of "-1" revision package sets floating
around, I gave my packages revision "-2".
Today, I will upload the tqsllib (2.2-2) package from [5] to Debian
unstable. Once it builds and gets installed to the archive, I will
upload trustedqsl (1.13-2).
Ubuntu Natty is in freeze now, but we'll see about filing for an
exception once this lands in Debian.
Jonathan, I think you're planning to contact the trustedqsl upstream and
pass them your findings about the multi-arch issue. Upstream should
also be made aware that the 'trustedqsl' package doesn't actually depend
directly on libssl or libexpat. My patches clean that up too
(specifically "debian/patches/01*.patch") so those may be useful to
them.
Thanks very much Jerry and Jonathan for your work!
