A bug was fixed in fldigi 3.21.46 which sounds very much like the bug
reported here.   Patrick, or other testers who have experienced this
bug:  Please try the latest fldigi version available here
https://launchpad.net/~kamalmostafa/+archive/fldigi   and advise us here
whether it fixes the crash for you.

  fldigi crashes when opening sound files for playback (wav, flac)

Status in “fldigi” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Selecting menu "File"->"Audio"->"Playback" in fldigi results in a
  crash. I tried .flac and .wav files.
