Google warns that rate limits, overage fees are coming to Maps API

This could affect sites that a lot of hams use.

aprs.fi and pskreporter come to mind. qrz.com will potentially be
affected, but they already charge for access, and can just raise rates
to cover.

It will make a more compelling case for using openstreetmap, although
they may also need a model that brings them some income to cover
increased demand.

This is one of the first cases of google taking an API that's become
widely used, and squeezing it. It will be interesting to follow.
