I have not used chirp with anything other than my Icoms, but the author
of chirp, Dan Smith. Dan is often in the #ubuntu-hams IRC chat as dansmith.

There's also the chirp users mailing list, which is probably the best
place to ask this question, as it's likely someone has seen this before.
You might even find an answer in the list archives.
